Overview

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 6/10 THE SUMMARY Set between the events of the first two Conjuring films, this entry sees Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the infamous Annabelle doll home to their artifacts room for safekeeping. When they head out for a night of work, they leave their daughter, Judy (Mckenna Grace), in the care of babysitter Mary Ellen. Things take a sharp turn for the worst when Mary Ellen's curious friend, Daniela, sneaks into the locked room and accidentally lets Annabelle out of her glass cage. The doll acts as a beacon, waking up every cursed object in the house for a long, terrifying night of babysitting from hell. THE PROS Mckenna Grace is the real standout here, delivering a grounded performance that proves she’s inherited her parents' grit and sixth sense. The "monster mash" approach is a lot of fun, introducing cool new entities like the Ferryman and the Bride that keep the scares feeling fresh and varied. It’s a 6/10 because the first part does a great job of establishing the house as a character, making the ordinary suburban setting feel genuinely threatening. There's some punchy humor provided by the neighbor, Bob, which balances out the tension and keeps the vibe from getting too bleak. The practical effects used for the different spirits are top-tier, maintaining that high-quality look the Conjuring universe is known for. THE CONS It earns a 6/10 because the middle part is quite sluggish, with a few too many "walking slowly down a hallway" scenes that don't always pay off.
