⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Wakanda is reeling from the loss of King T’Challa, and the rest of the world is circling like vultures to get their hands on Vibranium. While Queen Ramonda and Shuri try to keep the nation together, a secret underwater civilization called Talokan emerges from the deep. Their leader, Namor—a mutant with winged ankles and a proper grudge against the surface world—gives Wakanda an ultimatum: join him in a global war or be destroyed. Shuri has to process her grief and find a way to become the protector her people need before the two most powerful hidden nations on Earth tear each other apart. THE PROS Angela Bassett is epic status; her performance as Queen Ramonda is so quality it practically carries the emotional weight of the entire MCU Phase 4. Letitia Wright delivers a sincere and punchy arc as Shuri, moving from broken scientist to a lethal leader. Namor is a total win as a villain—he’s not just evil for the sake of it, but has a grounded, tragic reason for his actions that makes him one of the best antagonists since Killmonger. It’s an 8/10 because it handles the real-life passing of Chadwick Boseman with incredible grace, making the tribute scenes a winner for every fan. The production design for Talokan is quality, giving us a vibrant, Mesoamerican-inspired world that feels completely fresh. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the runtime is a bit of a beast, feeling slightly sluggish during the political subplots involving the CIA and Everett Ross. The "Ironheart" introduction feels a bit forced into the story, making the plot feel overstuffed in places. It misses a 9/10 because the final battle on the desert ship feels a bit quality-deficient compared to the massive, meaningful stakes—it’s essentially a very expensive boat fight that feels smaller than the rest of the movie’s grand scale. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and highly recommended for its emotional depth and world-building. It’s a winner for the tribute to T’Challa and the introduction of Namor. Go and watch it for the mid-credits scene—it’s quality and will definitely leave you with a lump in your throat. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Underwater Endurance: To film the scenes in Talokan, the cast had to undergo intensive free-diving training. Mabel Cadena (Namora) actually set a production record by holding her breath for six and a half minutes underwater.• Hidden Language: The film uses three distinct languages, each color-coded in the subtitles: Xhosa in yellow, Spanish in white, and Yucatec Mayan in blue—a quality detail to help viewers track the clashing cultures.• Digital Dining: In Shuri's lab, among all the high-tech holographic displays and Vibranium readouts, the scrolling data on the glass monitors contains a hidden sushi recipe—the favorite recurring easter egg of the VFX crew that has officially made it into the new era of Wakanda. THE VIBE Like a sunset over the ocean. It smells like incense, sea salt, and a hint of purple flowers.
