⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Harry’s having a rough summer—he’s being called a liar by the wizarding newspapers, and the Ministry of Magic is sticking its head in the sand about Voldemort’s return. To keep an eye on him, they send in Dolores Umbridge, a woman who loves pink, kittens, and torturing teenagers. When she bans actual magic lessons, Harry takes matters into his own hands and starts "Dumbledore’s Army" to teach his mates how to fight back. It all kicks off with a massive showdown at the Ministry that proves the dark days are officially here. THE PROS Imelda Staunton is a total belter as Umbridge. She’s so good at being evil that you’ll want to chuck your remote at the telly—sincere props to her for making a cardigan look terrifying. The final battle in the Department of Mysteries is epic status; the way the spells actually look like high-speed combat rather than just waving sticks is a punchy upgrade. It’s highly recommended because it captures that "rebellious teen" energy perfectly, and Sirius Black finally getting some proper screen time is a celebratory explosion of heart. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because it’s a bit of a head-scratcher how they squeezed the longest book into the shortest movie. The pacing can feel a sincere bit sluggish in the middle while they’re just cleaning up old houses, and then it suddenly sprints to the finish line. It misses a higher mark because some of the best subplots from the book—like the stuff at the wizard hospital—were binned entirely, which is a bit of a damp squib for the hardcore fans. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and a recommendation for anyone who likes a bit of "down with the establishment" vibes. It’s a vault essential for the duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort alone. Go and watch it for Grawp and the Weasley twins’ grand exit—it’s a belter. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Evanna Lynch’s Dream: Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna Lovegood, was a massive fan who used to write letters to J.K. Rowling. She beat out 15,000 other girls for the role, and the producers said she didn't just play Luna—she *was* Luna. • Silent Scream: In the scene where a certain character dies, Daniel Radcliffe let out a scream that was so visceral and heart-wrenching that the director actually muted it in the final edit because it was "too intense" for a PG-13 film. • Umbridge’s Kittens: All those moving kitten plates in Umbridge’s office? Those were real kittens filmed on a green screen. They spent a whole day filming 40 different fluff-balls just to make her office look extra creepy. THE VIBE Like a cold, grey morning where you’re stuck in detention. It smells like dusty tea, old carpet, and iron. It makes you want to start a secret club, break some rules, and realize that some teachers are way more dangerous than monsters.
