When his personal world is destroyed, Tony must rely on his sincere ingenuity rather than just his suits to survive. It’s a grounded, character-focused look at the man inside the machine, directed by Shane Black, who brings his absolute quality signature wit and "Christmas-time" setting to the final solo outing for the armored Avenger. THE PROS This earns a 7/10 because it’s a total winner in terms of character development. Seeing Tony stripped of his tech and forced to use his high-quality brain to solve problems is a legendary shout and feels incredibly honest. Robert Downey Jr. is absolute quality as always, making the sincere exploration of PTSD a banger of a storyline. The "Barrel of Monkeys" mid-air rescue is a high-quality sequence that stands out as a total win for practical-looking stunts.
