Overview

A man who loves when a plan comes together, Col. Hannibal Smith leads a close-knit team of elite operatives and Iraq War veterans. Framed for a crime they didn't commit, Smith and his men, Capt. H.M. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock , Sgt. Bosco ‘B.A.’ Baracus, and Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck, break out and go rogue, using their special talents to clear their names and find the perpetrator. ⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY "I love it when a plan comes together!" Colonel Hannibal Smith (Liam Neeson) and his crew of elite Special Forces rangers are back, but this time they aren't just helping local farmers—they're clearing their names after being framed for a high-stakes robbery in Baghdad. The team includes the smooth-talking Face (Bradley Cooper), the powerhouse B.A. Baracus (Quinton "Rampage" Jackson), and the clinically insane pilot Murdock (Sharlto Copley). They escape from separate military prisons to track down stolen U.S. Treasury printing plates and the mysterious "Lynch" who double-crossed them. It’s loud, it’s expensive, and it features a tank falling out of a plane. THE PROS The chemistry is a "Guaranteed Banger." Replacing an iconic 80s cast is a suicide mission, but this group actually pulls it off. Sharlto Copley is a Masterpiece as Murdock; he’s genuinely hilarious and unhinged, stealing every scene he’s in. The action is "The Business"—specifically the sequence where they "fly" a tank through the air by firing its main cannon to change direction. It’s the kind of glorious, stupid fun that the original show lived for. Liam Neeson brings a gravitas to Hannibal that makes you believe in the "plan," even when that plan involves ketchup and a Kevlar helmet. THE CONS The CGI hasn't aged perfectly. There are moments, especially in the final dock sequence, where everything looks a bit like a blurry PlayStation 3 game. It’s an 8/10 because the plot is a bit of a "head-scratcher" if you try to apply actual logic to it. It also suffers from "over-editing"—some of the fights are cut so fast you’ll feel like you’ve been hit in the head with B.A.'s rings. It misses the 9/10 mark because it trades the "small-town hero" vibe of the show for a massive, global conspiracy that feels a bit generic at times. THE VERDICT An 8/10. It’s "The Business" for anyone who wants a high-octane summer blockbuster that doesn't take itself seriously. It’s a Masterpiece of "popcorn cinema"—a loud, proud, cigar-chomping tribute to the 80s that actually has a soul. If you haven't seen it since 2010, it’s a much better rewatch than you probably remember, especially now that it's a staple on the 2026 streaming rotations. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA Bradley Cooper got into such ridiculous shape for this role that he reportedly had to stop working out because his "veins were popping out too much" on camera. Also, Sharlto Copley ad-libbed a huge chunk of Murdock’s insanity, including the "antifreeze" cooking scene. Fun fact: The original "Face" (Dirk Benedict) and "Murdock" (Dwight Schultz) have tiny cameos after the credits—Schultz plays a doctor in the German hospital, and Benedict is the guy in the tanning bed. Mr. T, however, famously declined a cameo because he felt it was disrespectful to the original series. THE VIBE Like a cigar and a cold beer after a successful heist. It’s masculine, slightly ridiculous, and leaves you feeling like you could probably take on a private military company with nothing but a van and some duct tape.
