⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Ally is a 16-year-old living in a high-tech Malibu fortress, supposedly suffering from a chronic autoimmune disease that keeps her isolated from the world. Her adoptive parents, Jeff and Georgia, are billionaire biotech moguls who claim they are doing everything to find a "cure." When Ally sneaks out and befriends a local girl named Brooke, she begins to see the cracks in her parents’ story. It turns out she isn't just a patient—she’s a biological asset. Her parents have been engineering her illness to harvest her blood for a life-extension serum they plan to sell to the ultra-wealthy. Ally has to escape her "protective" prison before her parents' obsession with eternal youth drains her dry. THE PROS David Dastmalchian is a total win; he brings that same creepy, understated intensity we loved in 'Late Night with the Devil' to the role of the biotech billionaire. Samantha Cochran is a winner as Ally, giving a sincere and punchy performance that makes you actually care about her survival. It’s a 7/10 because it’s a smart "eat-the-rich" thriller that tackles bio-ethics without getting too bogged down in technobabble. The cinematography is quality, using the sterile, cold beauty of the Malibu mansion to create a sense of high-end dread. It’s a punchy satire of modern longevity obsession that feels very 2026. THE CONS It earns a 7/10 because the "standard thriller" tropes start to creep in during the final act, making the escape sequence feel a bit quality-deficient compared to the clever setup. The pacing in the middle, while Brooke and Ally are hanging out, can feel slightly sluggish for those wanting more horror and less "teen drama." It misses an 8/10 mark because some of the supporting characters, like the silent bodyguards, are a bit of a damp squib and lack any real personality.
