⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 1/10 THE SUMMARY When an oil tycoon and a legendary adventurer vanish into the Alaskan tundra, a rescue team—led by Ellie (Brittany Allen) and Merriell Jr. (Eric Nelsen)—heads into the white void to bring them back. Instead of a standard search and rescue, they stumble into a territorial dispute with a towering, bloodthirsty beast. Released in April 2026, this "survival horror" tries to evoke the grit of 70s grindhouse but ends up feeling like a student project that got lost in a snowstorm. THE PROS The practical effects are the only reason this isn't a 0/10. Directors Gene Gallerano and William Pisciotta clearly spent their entire budget on a decent-looking monster suit and buckets of fake blood. There are a few creative, grotesque deaths that deliver on the promised "R-rated gore," and seeing veterans like William Sadler and Corbin Bernsen show up is a nice "Oh, I know them" moment. Jim Cummings also tries his absolute best to ground the chaos with a performance that belongs in a much better movie. THE CONS Everything else is an absolute "Abomination." The script is thinner than a sheet of ice, with characters so bland you’ll be rooting for the Yeti to finish them off just to end the dialogue. The pacing is a disaster—it drags for 90 minutes but somehow feels like nothing happens because so many major plot points occur off-screen. It’s a 1/10 because it squanders a perfectly good creature-feature premise with disjointed editing and "convenient" plot twists that make no sense. It’s "The Garbage" of 2026, failing to build even a shred of tension or atmosphere. THE VERDICT A 1/10. It’s "The Business" if you’re looking for a Masterpiece of how not to make a monster movie. It’s a "Dull Dud" that manages to make a giant, man-eating ape in the snow feel boring. Save your money and just put some ice cubes in your shirt while watching a better movie—it’ll be a more immersive experience than this. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA Despite being set in 1947 Alaska, the movie was actually filmed in New York state during a particularly mild winter, which explains why some of the "wilderness" looks suspiciously like a suburban park. Also, the film had a very messy release schedule, hitting Russian theaters months before its limited US debut on April 10, 2026. Fun fact: The monster suit was so heavy and cumbersome that the actor inside could only film for 15 minutes at a time before needing an oxygen tank, which is likely why the creature is mostly hidden behind "shaky cam" and quick cuts. THE VIBE Like a freezer burn. It’s cold, unappealing, and leaves a bad taste in your mouth that lingers long after you’ve realized you should have just ordered pizza instead.
