⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 4/10 THE SUMMARY This is the one that tried to explain where the claws came from but ended up tripping over its own shoelaces. We follow Logan and his brother Victor (Sabretooth) as they fight through every major war in history before joining a shady black-ops team run by William Stryker. After a falling out, Logan undergoes the high-quality agony of the Adamantium bonding process to seek revenge. It’s an origin story that packs in way too many mutants, messy CGI, and a version of Deadpool that remains one of the biggest head-scratchers in cinema history. THE PROS Hugh Jackman is the only real winner here; he remains legendary as Logan and brings a sincere effort to a script that doesn’t always deserve it. Liev Schreiber is a high-quality addition as Victor Creed, offering an honest, menacing foil to Logan that feels more visceral than the version we saw in the original *X-Men*. It earns a 4/10 because the opening montage—showing the brothers fighting through the American Civil War, WWI, WWII, and Vietnam—is a total banger and easily the best part of the movie. There are some decent action beats, like the helicopter chase, that provide a bit of mindless, popcorn-fuelled fun if you don't think about the plot too hard. THE CONS It lands a 4/10 because the CGI is a total clanger, especially the infamous "bathroom mirror" claws that look quality-deficient even for 2009. The middle part is sluggish and overstuffed with cameos that don't go anywhere, making the pacing feel messy. It misses a higher mark because of what it did to Deadpool—sewing the mouth shut of the "Merc with a Mouth" was a legendary mistake that still stings. The plot is an honest disaster of retcons and logic leaps that makes the wider X-Men timeline a total head-scratcher. It’s a bit of a slog that confuses "having more characters" with "being more epic." THE VERDICT A 4/10. A quality-deficient entry in the franchise that is a winner only for completionists who need to see every frame of Jackman’s Logan.
