⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Twenty-two years after the original disaster, John Hammond’s dream is finally a reality: a fully functioning luxury dinosaur resort on Isla Nublar. But people are getting bored of "regular" dinosaurs, so the corporate suits cook up a genetically modified hybrid called the Indominus Rex to spice things up. Surprise, surprise—the giant, invisible-capable monster escapes. Now it’s up to Owen Grady, a Navy vet who "whispers" to raptors, and park manager Claire Dearing to save 20,000 tourists and Claire's two nephews before they become prehistoric snacks. THE PROS This is a win for anyone who missed the pure, popcorn-munching scale of the original. Seeing the park finally open and thriving is a celebratory explosion of "what if" that pays a sincere tribute to the first film. Chris Pratt is a total belter as Owen, bringing that effortless action-man charm, and the raptor squad—Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo—are the real stars of the show. The final showdown between the T-Rex, the raptors, and the Indominus is epic status; it’s a punchy, fan-service masterpiece that hits all the right notes. It’s highly recommended because it captures that sense of wonder better than any of the other sequels. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because some of the logic is a bit of a head-scratcher—like Claire running away from a T-Rex in high heels for the entire movie without snapping an ankle. The sub-plot about using raptors for military warfare is a bit of a damp squib and feels slightly out of place. The pacing can feel sluggish in the beginning while we follow the two nephews around, and some of the CGI on the Indominus looks a tad "video gamey" compared to the practical puppets of the 90s. It misses the 9/10 mark because it relies quite heavily on nostalgia to carry the plot, but it’s still a good movie. THE VERDICT An 8/10. A good movie and a total recommendation if you want to relive your childhood with bigger teeth. It’s a vault essential that successfully rebooted the franchise for a new generation. Go and watch it for the Mosasaurus feeding time and the classic T-Rex reveal—it’s a belter of a summer blockbuster. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Heels of Steel: Bryce Dallas Howard actually trained herself to run in high heels for the film. Despite the crew offering her sensible shoes for the forest scenes, she insisted on keeping the heels to stay in character, claiming it was her own personal stunt.• Original Vision: Before the script was finalized, early drafts involved human-dinosaur hybrids carrying machine guns. Thankfully, they scrapped that for the Indominus Rex, which feels a lot more "Jurassic" and a lot less "mad scientist’s basement."• Jimmy Buffett’s Cameo: During the Pterosaur attack on the main plaza, you can see a man frantically running while clutching two margaritas. That’s actually legendary singer Jimmy Buffett in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo. THE VIBE Like a VIP pass to a theme park where the safety railings are made of tissue paper. It smells like sunscreen, tropical rain, and expensive steak. It makes you want to buy a petting zoo ticket, keep an eye on the bushes, and realize that "bigger" isn't always "safer."
