⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 8/10 THE SUMMARY Leaving Woodsboro in the rearview mirror, the survivors of the latest Ghostface spree head to New York City for a fresh start. But the big city doesn't offer much cover when a new, more aggressive killer starts stalking them through subways and bodegas. This Ghostface isn't just following a script; they’re a powerhouse with a shrine to the past and a penchant for using a shotgun when a knife won't do. It’s a fast-paced hunt through the concrete jungle that proves you can change your zip code, but you can’t outrun a legacy written in blood. THE PROS The change of scenery is an absolute win, turning tight NYC spaces—like a packed subway car or a rickety ladder between apartments—into a celebratory explosion of tension. This Ghostface is a total belter, moving with a sincere brutality and efficiency that makes them feel genuinely dangerous compared to previous iterations. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera have found their groove, delivering a sincere sisterly bond that anchors the chaos. It’s a good movie because it takes bold risks, like the bodega shootout, that breathe new life into a thirty-year-old formula. THE CONS It earns an 8/10 because the final reveal and motive are a bit of a head-scratcher, leaning a tad too hard into a "cartoonish" villain vibe that doesn't quite match the grit of the first two acts. While highly recommended for the scares, the absence of Sidney Prescott is a sincere hole in the heart of the film, even if the new cast tries their best to fill the void. It misses the 9/10 status because the logic in the finale gets a bit loose, with characters surviving injuries that would put a normal human in the ground for good. THE VERDICT An 8/10. INSOMNIAC TRIVIA • Subway Stress: The iconic subway sequence was filmed using hundreds of extras in costumes. To keep the killer's identity a sincere secret, the directors had multiple people dressed as Ghostface on the train so even the cast wouldn't know which one was "real" during takes.• Canadian NYC: Despite being set in the heart of Manhattan, the film was actually shot almost entirely in Montreal. The production team had to bring in sincere amounts of New York-specific trash and street signs to make the Canadian streets look appropriately "gritty."• Hayden’s Return: Hayden Panettiere’s return as Kirby was a sincere result of fan demand. After a tiny "Easter egg" in the previous film suggested she survived, the directors reached out to her personally to bring the character back as an FBI agent. THE VIBE Like a cold wind whistling through a dark alleyway in Manhattan. It smells like damp pavement, subway grease, and old movie posters. It makes you want to avoid the evening commute, stay away from glass-top tables, and realize that in a city of millions, nobody can hear you scream.
