⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Logan travels to modern-day Japan to say a final goodbye to an old acquaintance from WWII, only to find himself entangled in a massive Yakuza conspiracy. After being stripped of his legendary healing factor, he’s forced to protect a corporate heiress while being hunted by ninjas, mutants, and a massive silver samurai. It’s a high-quality attempt to bring some much-needed grit back to the character after the mess of *X-Men Origins*, trading the usual world-ending stakes for a more personal, localized battle. THE PROS The Japanese setting is a total winner; the high-quality cinematography captures the neon-soaked streets of Tokyo and the quiet beauty of the countryside perfectly. Hugh Jackman is a legendary shout as always, bringing a sincere, tortured energy to Logan that feels honest to the source material. It earns a 7/10 because the action in the first two acts is a total banger—the fight on top of the bullet train is an absolute business and one of the most creative sequences in the franchise. It’s an 8/10 for the "Extended Unleashed" version, which adds some much-needed blood and makes the ninja showdowns feel way more high-quality and impactful. THE CONS It lands a 7/10 because the final act is a bit of a clanger. After a grounded and sincere build-up, it devolves into a quality-deficient CGI boss fight against a giant robot that feels a bit out of place. The middle part is slightly sluggish, and the subplot involving Viper is a bit of a head-scratcher—her powers and motivations feel like they belong in a much cheesier movie.
