Overview

Freddy Lupin, heir to a proud family line of werewolves, is in for a shock when on his 14th birthday his first 'warfing' goes awry, turning him into a ferocious poodle. The pack elders give Freddy until the next moonrise to prove he has the heart of a wolf, or risk being cast out forever. With the help of an unlikely ally in a streetwise stray named Batty, Freddy must prove he's 100% Wolf.

⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 7/10 THE SUMMARY Freddy Lupin is the heir to a proud family of noble werewolves, and he’s ready to prove he’s got the bite to match the bark during his first warmoon transformation. Instead of becoming a fierce wolf, Freddy turns into a tiny, pink, well-groomed poodle. Banished from the pack and ending up in a dog pound, he has to team up with a street-smart stray named Batty to find a magical moonstone and prove that being a hero is about heart, not how high you can howl. THE PROS The animation is punchy and vibrant, making it a decent watch for kids who want something high-energy. The "poodle vs. wolf" concept provides plenty of laughs, and the message about being yourself is handled with a good bit of wit rather than being too preachy. It’s a solid bit of fun because the voice cast brings a lot of personality to the different dog breeds, and the slapstick humor is genuinely funny in parts. THE CONS It earns a 7/10 because the plot follows the "misfit finds his way" formula very closely, making it feel predictable for anyone over the age of ten. The villains are a bit of a damp squib and don't feel like a real threat to the lupine legacy. It misses a higher mark because some of the jokes are a bit low-brow, even for a family flick, and the pacing can feel slightly sluggish during the pound breakout. THE VERDICT A 7/10. Decent and a good recommendation for a rainy afternoon with the kids. It’s a winner if you want something lighthearted that doesn't take itself too seriously. Go and watch it for the "poodle-fu" action—it’s quality.
