Four years after their cosmic accident, Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) face their most pained challenge yet: a planet-devouring entity named Galactus. As Sue prepares for the arrival of the world’s first super-powered baby, the team must navigate a gritty cosmic ultimatum that threatens to consume their home. It’s a stylish, mid-century adventure that trades the usual MCU formula for a sincere, high-concept family drama. THE PROS This is an absolute win for the MCU's new direction. It hits an 8 because the 1960s aesthetic is epic—the "retro-future" design feels tactile and honest, avoiding the sterile CGI look of recent entries. Pedro Pascal brings a sincere, pained intelligence to Reed, while Vanessa Kirby is a total banger as the team’s emotional and political anchor. The chemistry between the four is visceral; Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Thing feels heavy and honest, and Joseph Quinn captures Johnny’s pained bravado perfectly. Ralph Ineson as Galactus is a fair shout for one of the most terrifying villains in the franchise, possessing a voice that feels like it could actually crush a world. It’s an epic, refreshing take that feels like a sincere love letter to Jack Kirby’s original vision. THE CONS It stays at an 8 because the plot is a bit of a "head scratcher" in the middle act, where the technobabble regarding the "teleportation bridges" can feel a touch dense and pained for casual viewers. It misses a higher mark because some of the supporting characters, like Shalla-Bal, don't get quite enough screen time to fully explore their pained motivations before the massive finale.
