⭐ Insomniacs Rating: 9/10 THE SUMMARY ROZZUM unit 7134, or "Roz," is a service robot that crash-lands on a remote island populated only by animals. With no people to give her orders, she has to learn the languages of the forest to survive. After an accident leaves her in charge of an orphaned gosling, she has to override her core settings to become a mother. It’s a stunning story about a machine learning to feel and a wild environment learning to trust a stranger. THE PROS The animation is incredible. It looks like a moving oil painting, with a rough, textured style that stands out from the usual polished CGI. It hits a 9 because the story is genuinely moving without being sappy. Lupita Nyong'o does a great job voicing Roz, starting out cold and mechanical and slowly becoming more human as she bonds with the wildlife. It’s a rare film that works for all ages because it deals with real themes like sacrifice and survival with total honesty. The action is sharp, and the relationship between the robot and the gosling is the heart of the whole thing. THE CONS It misses a 10 because the final act shifts into a more standard "battle" sequence that feels a bit loud compared to the quiet, atmospheric start. Some of the comic relief from the forest animals is a bit frantic and occasionally breaks the mood. It’s a small issue, but it keeps the film from being perfect. THE VERDICT 9/10. A beautiful, gritty, and deeply emotional film. It’s easily one of the best animated features in years and proves that a simple story told well is always better than a loud, hollow spectacle.
